The second-annual Honolulu Twestival will be held at Oceans 808, returning to the Restaurant Row venue that hosted the first Twestival last year. The global fundraiser will be held around the world on Thursday, March 25, 2010.
“Oceans 808 is one of Honolulu’s most versatile venues, catering to both the pau hana crowd and night club scene, as well as for events from political to fund raising,” says Vernon Brown, part of the Honolulu Twestival organizing team. “Mike, Jaime, Star and the rest of the staff at Oceans 808 have been amazing in helping us provide a venue that can accommodate a crowd determined to support a good cause while having a good, laid-back time doing so.”
Indeed, while the Honolulu Twestival is returning to familiar territory, this year’s event will feel — and sound — very different.
“Last years Honolulu Twestival was an all out party with five rocking music performers, and even dancing,” Vernon explains. “This year we are working together with Oceans 808 to transform the venue into a more lounge laid back feel with the addition of tables and seating, as well as bringing a more mellow acoustic set of musicians.”
“We want people to come out and give to the cause, but we also want to create an atmosphere conducive to socializing, conversation, and the traditional ideas of a pau hana style mixer in only the way that Hawaii can do,” he adds.
Last year’s global Twestival raised over $250,000 (over $7,000 in Honolulu alone) for charity. This year, the event will benefit Concern Worldwide, an international non-profit focused on meeting the needs of people living in extreme poverty around the world.
Thanks to sponsors and other supporters, 100 percent of ticket sales go to charity. Honolulu Twestival tickets can be purchased online for $20 in advance, or $25 at the door.
